How To Draw Scissors

Learn How To Draw Scissors Quickly

If you’re thinking something like “Hey, this is the easiest video guide I’ve ever seen”, you are absolutely right. Our how to draw Scissors tutorial is specifically intended for the beginners that want to master the art but are a bit scared to start. Essentially, we’ve got two spoons sitting on top of each other – keep that image in your head.

We start in the left corner with a straight horizontal line (00 min 07 sec). The lower half makes it look like a paddle, doesn’t it (00 min 16 sec)? For the right half, you’ll need two circles (00 min 25 sec). Don’t try to make them 100% smooth and curvy, as this is a somewhat cartoony drawing. To complete the first blade, add a short line and a tiny circle (00 min 36 sec).

The second blade concludes this how to draw Scissors tutorial (00 min 53 sec). Basically, the two are identical. The most important thing here is to position the blades right to create a realistic image of scissors. Just follow my lead and you’ll be alright.

Before you learn how to draw Scissors, did you know?

I bet you had no idea that the very first scissors were introduced to the world about 4K years ago. Yes, that’s right, which means our ancestors were pretty handy with metallic stuff, as opposed to what the historians like to tell us. Back then, our kind had the so-called “spring” scissors. They lasted until the 16th century and then their popularity faded.

Interesting fact: the modern-day scissors have been around since 100 AD! And, to this day, we’re still using the same old principles. Scissors are great for cutting paper, cardboard, wire, rope, and other things. For cutting hair, we use shears (again the technology is the same).

Some Things To Keep In Mind…

These tutorials are only here to guide you. Your drawing does not need to look "identical" to mine.

Start with rough but light pencil strokes that you can work into the shapes you want.

Once you have your rough drawing completed, go over it in a darker stroke for your final drawing.

Add shading and/or color to complete if desired.

Using this technique you will be able to draw anything after some practice... even without following step-by-step tutorials.
