How To Draw Crayons

Learn How To Draw Crayons Quickly

This is a website dedicated to drawing, so it’s only fair and fitting that today we work on a set of coloring pencils. In this how to draw Crayons tutorial, they are the main focus. The box holding them is in 3D – keep that in mind while following the video guide. Start in the lower corner of the paper and add a simple rectangular shape just like I did (00 min 10 sec).

As you can see, it’s tilted to the right, which allows us to turn it into a three-dimensional object. But how do we do that? By adding the left side and the bottom, of course (00 min 22 sec). Looks a lot like a box filled with matches, doesn’t it? See that shape in the top corner (00 min 36 sec)? It’s actually hollow and you can take a look at the product through there.

Ok, now let’s get to the main part of this how to draw Crayons tutorial. You’ll need a series of lines on top of that box for starters (00 min 44 sec). Don’t make them of an equal length – introduce some differences between them. The heads come next (01 min 08 sec). Finally, draw a matching number of lines that follow the crayons and can be seen through that hole (01 min 45 sec).

Before you learn how to draw Crayons, did you know?

This website is dedicated to drawing, and, the tutorials are recorded on a camera. Naturally, you’re more than welcome to use Photoshop and/or another graphics editor, but there’s something unique about using a pencil and a piece of paper to draw your masterpieces.

With that said, crayons should always be a part of your “gear”, especially if you’re a big fan of coloring and/or using different color combinations for shading. Usually, a standard box comes with seven colors, which is more than enough for any basic drawing. If you’re a pro, go for something more advanced.

Some Things To Keep In Mind…

These tutorials are only here to guide you. Your drawing does not need to look "identical" to mine.

Start with rough but light pencil strokes that you can work into the shapes you want.

Once you have your rough drawing completed, go over it in a darker stroke for your final drawing.

Add shading and/or color to complete if desired.

Using this technique you will be able to draw anything after some practice... even without following step-by-step tutorials.
