Learn How to draw Landscapes Quickly & Easily!

Shading is a very important technique in drawing and once you master it, you’ll be able to create truly epic compositions. By using different tones, we’ll create the illusion of a 3D image in this how to draw landscapes tutorial. We’re going to start with a rough sketch that will guide us later (00 min 03 sec). Go with basic shapes – nothing fancy.

We’ve got three houses in total and a lot of trees. Once you’re done with the guidelines, get to the real thing (00 min 26 sec). The house on the front needs to be perfect in order for this drawing to “work”. You’re only going to need one black pencil for this, by the way. The secret is in using different strokes and fully mastering the art of using tones and shading.

Gradually move on to the trees on the left and, again, use the shading technique to give them the necessary touch (00 min 47 sec). Yes, it will take you a lot of time to finish this drawing, but that’s the whole point of this how to draw landscapes video: patience and dedication. Move on to the house on the left and use the same approach (01 min 37 sec).

Remember to use hard strokes only for the outlines. Go back to the house in the middle and perfect all the lines and the shades (01 min 52 sec). Next, move on to the rest of the composition. For most, the trees are the trickiest part. It’s pretty hard to find just the right combination of shades, but once you do, you’ll become a real pro and learn how to draw landscapes.

The hill at the bottom of the drawing is probably the easiest part (02 min 48 sec). The building on the right is pretty tiny and will be a piece of cake (03 min 10 sec). Take your time with the trees, though :). The final step includes adding those tiny cute details on the hill (04 min 19 sec). And don’t forget about the shades I put in with the white pen (04 min 36 sec).

Some Things To Keep In Mind…

These tutorials are only here to guide you. Your drawing does not need to look "identical" to mine.

Start with rough but light pencil strokes that you can work into the shapes you want.

Once you have your rough drawing completed, go over it in a darker stroke for your final drawing.

Add shading and/or color to complete if desired.

Using this technique you will be able to draw anything after some practice... even without following step-by-step tutorials.
