Before you learn how to draw an Angel, did you know?
Angels are spiritual beings found in religions and mythologies all over the world. In some religions, angels are depicted intermediaries between Heaven and Earth. They are also often regarded as spirits which guard and guide us.
Christians inherited Jewish understandings of angels, which were possibly inherited from the Egyptians. Early on, the Christian belief of angels characterized them as the messengers of God. Later on there was the introduction of individual angels with names such as: Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, Uriel, and Lucifer. In the 2oo years between 200A.D. and 400A.D. angels took on a more definite role both in theology and in art.
In art, angels are mostly portrayed large bird wings on their backs, wearing robes and with halos around their heads.
The theological study of angels is known as “angelology”.
