Unlike most of our fine tutorials, we’ll begin this one – how to draw a rose – on a stem – without any guidelines. Start from the middle: creates an S-like curve that points to the right and another one (identical to it) that looks the other way (00 min 17 sec). Once that’s in place, add another couple of curves at the bottom to create two beautiful leaves (00 min 33 sec).

This will be the foundation for our beautiful drawing. What you’ll need to do next is add a huge and quite curvy line on top of our leaves (it looks a lot like a question mark that lies flat) (00 min 50 sec). Actually, we’re happy to say that the hardest part is done. The rest is a matter of adding additional lines here and there to complete the picture. Connect the huge curves we just made with the leaves in the middle (01 min 20 sec). Next, finish the top of the rose like you see in the video guide. All done with that? Then it’s time to move to the final stage.

Start with rough but light pencil strokes that you can work into the shapes you want.

Once you have your rough drawing completed, go over it in a darker stroke for your final drawing.
